Pamela Anderson is making her Hollywood comeback decades after she became a cultural icon in her red Baywatch swimsuit.
Recently appearing on the red carpet for the premiere of her film The Last Showgirl, the 57-year-old star shocked fans with her simple glam. While some are saying she “looks carefree and happy” others are suggesting she was “covered up like a grandma” in a “frumpy” and “unflattering” floral dress.

In 1993, when Canadian-born Pamela Anderson joined the cast of Baywatch, the stunning woman admitted that she “love(s) the dumb blonde image.” In the interview with People, she said, “Then I have nothing to live up to. I can only surprise people.”
And over her decades-long career, the former Playboy model was full of surprises, which includes breast implants and reductions, five divorces, couch surfing at Wayne Gretzky’s home, and an X-rated honeymoon tape from her marriage to Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee Jones (1995 to 1998).
After years of keeping a busy schedule, the once busty blonde changed her image and recently had a major makeover, redefining herself as a natural beauty.
Explaining her decision to go makeup free, Anderson spoke with Glamour and said that she doesn’t want to “chase youth.”
“I’ve just done [makeup] and I’ve played with it,” she said in the September 30, 2024 interview. “I’ve nothing against makeup, but I felt like it just looked better on me in my 20s than it did now.
“You’re going to hit a crossroads in your 50s, and you go, ‘Am I going to chase youth? Am I going to be miserable? Or am I going to be self-accepting?’” she added. “And it’s a practice. And it’s hard to say that you’re attempting all this if you’re still doing the red carpets and the covers of magazines plastered in makeup.”
No longer tethered by the sex symbol persona that defined her for several decades, Anderson, now 57, took the bold step of appearing in a flowery frock on the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie at the San Sebastien Film Festival.
The star of Striperrella earned a leading role in the film The Last Showgirl, a drama directed by Gia Coppola, the granddaughter of the award-making filmmaker, Francis Ford Coppola.
In the Vegas-set movie, that also stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Dave Bautista, Anderson plays a veteran showgirl who faces an uncertain future after she learns that her show will be closing permanently after a 30-year run.
‘Very unflattering’
At the cinematic event, the animal rights advocate went bare-faced and wore a multicolor floral print midi dress designed by Carolina Herrera. The long-sleeved dress was loosely fit with a bow at the base of the V-neckline and featured pleats, buttoned cuffs and side pockets.
The mother of two completed her look with nude pointed-toe slingback heels.
The V.I.P. star, who’s now embracing the simplicity of life and aging with grace, looks stunning in anything she wears. But some fans across social media were unimpressed with her choice of attire, saying her dress was “frumpy” and “unflattering,” making her look like a “grandma.”
“This woman just has no style. Either she’s ordinary or, as now, invisible,” writes one keyboard warrior. A second Facebook user writes “it’s very unflattering on her she has a beautiful body, and this dress does nothing for her!”
A third netizen says her “flower thing looks like a lumpy housecoat,” while another explains that she loves the Barb Wire star “but not like this… [Makeup takes] 3 minutes.”
Coming to Anderson’s defense, one cyber fan writes, “Society is just accustomed to people with totally over-makeup. The woman is almost 60, she is naturally bright and looks completely normal and healthy. Today’s expectations of what a woman should look like are not healthy!”
Meanwhile, the Home Improvement star also captured the attention of admiring internet users on the ‘What the Frock’ subreddit. “I appreciate Pamela Anderson so much for how she embraces aging. Lots of people had prejudice about her because of her being the sexy woman of her time. I remember some people hated on her and only thought of her as a stupid blonde with a hot body.” the user continues, “She is stunning and she is very sweet in her interviews, I look at her and all I feel is loveliness and kindness and femininity.”
A second Redditor shares, “I respect her so much for embracing her natural aging beauty. I also would’ve never guessed she would embrace aging, but man, mad props to her. She looks great!” And a third adds, “This woman is a queen. I love the way she’s living life on her own terms, regardless of anyone’s expectations of her. I love her (mostly) bare face and the way she wears her clothes with so much enjoyment and confidence. Love. Love. Love.”
