Born Patricia Anne Maloney on March 17, 1936, in Perkinsville, New York, she stood at 3 feet 11 inches (119 cm) and lived a life filled with challenges and accomplishments. Her early years were marked by personal tragedy—her father passed away when she was just seven years old. Following his death, her family relocated to Florida, where she was raised by her mother and stepfather.

Despite these early hardships, Maloney began her career in entertainment at a remarkably young age. By age three, she was already performing on Broadway, and during her youth, she joined traveling performance troupes and even worked with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

An Unexpected Career Turn

Before fully committing to acting, Maloney trained as a keypunch operator and worked for National Airlines in New York City. It was during this time that she met Joseph Vitek, a Chicago-based printer. The couple married in 1961 and settled in the Windy City. Sadly, their time together was cut short when Vitek passed away from melanoma in 1968.

After this personal loss, Maloney returned to the entertainment world. Her early work included performing with Sid and Marty Krofft in their puppet variety special Fol-de-Rol. From there, she quickly became recognized for her versatility and talent.
