SB. Donnie Wahlberg hands single mom $2,020 tip at IHOP

In today’s world, it’s no wonder that many individuals find themselves working tirelessly just to make ends meet.

You’ve probably heard stories about those few who seem to exploit the system, gliding through life without putting in the effort, relying on the generosity of others.

However, for every so-called ‘freeloader’, there are countless hardworking individuals who are dedicated to earning a living. Many of these people may face financial challenges, yet they consistently show up for work, taking on as many hours as they can to support themselves and their families.

According to reports, Bethany Provencher is one of these dedicated individuals. A single mother to an 11-year-old son, she made the decision to leave Miami after 18 years and start anew in St. Charles, Illinois.

After signing a lease for a new apartment, Bethany secured a job at a local  IHOP, drawing on her 25 years of experience in customer service.

Despite her efforts, she was aware that finances would be tight for some time, and she struggled to furnish her new home due to limited funds.

Then, just before the new year, a celebrity couple walked into the IHOP where Bethany worked and took a seat in her section.

To her surprise, she recognized the man as singer-songwriter Donnie Wahlberg, who was there with his wife, Jenny McCarthy.

Reports indicate that Bethany was thrilled to serve them. As a fan of New Kids on the Block, the band Donnie was part of, she had always admired him.

Little did she know, that day would turn out to be a significant turning point in her life.

After Donnie and his family wrapped up their lunch, the singer took care of their $35.27 bill and left a note for Bethany on the receipt. Alongside a cheerful hand-drawn smiley, it said: “Thanks, Bethany, Happy New Year. 2020 Tip Challenge.”

Donnie specifically requested that Bethany wait to open the receipt until he and his wife had exited the IHOP. She followed his instructions but was completely shocked when she finally looked at the receipt and discovered that Donnie had generously tipped her and her colleagues a whopping $2,020!
