SB. Cher promises she ‘will leave’ the country if Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential election

Cher is fully prepared to leave the U.S. if Donald Trump is re-elected president in 2024.

The pop icon made the bold claim in a recent interview with The Guardian.

“I almost got an ulcer the last time,” Cher said. “If he gets in, who knows? This time I will leave [the country].”

At the tail end of Trump’s presidency he rolled back nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ people.

The “Believe” singer did not hold back when discussing trans rights and the number of bills being passed against the LGBTQ community.

“It’s something like 500 bills they’re trying to pass,” Cher said. “I was with two trans girls the other night – and of course my own child [Chaz is trans]. I was saying ‘We’ve got to stand together.’ I don’t know what their eventual plan is for trans people. I don’t put anything past them.”

This isn’t the first time Cher has spoken her mind about Trump. When he became president in 2020, she said, “I hate to even call him a president because all he does is watch TV.”

Cher also predicted the former president would have a meltdown if he didn’t win the reelection.

“If Trump can’t be in the White House, he’s going to burn it down,” she stated. “He’s the most vindictive person I’ve ever witnessed. I think he’s fighting so hard because he’s going to be prosecuted when he gets out of the White House.”

Cher has long been an outspoken critic of Donald Trump, and her comments reflect a deep concern for the future of the country and marginalized communities if he were to return to the presidency. As a fierce advocate for LGBTQ rights, the singer has used her platform repeatedly to speak out against policies she views as harmful, particularly those targeting transgender individuals.

Cher, who has a personal connection to the trans community through her son, Chaz Bono, has expressed her fear and frustration over the ongoing legislative attacks aimed at restricting trans rights across the U.S. Her reference to the alarming number of anti-LGBTQ bills being introduced underscores her worry about the growing hostility towards the community. “It’s terrifying to watch these rights being stripped away,” she added. “We’re supposed to be moving forward, not backward.”

The pop legend’s political activism is nothing new. Over the years, she has used her celebrity status to call attention to various social justice issues and has never shied away from criticizing political figures she believes are contributing to societal harm. She has often taken to social media to share her views, including her disdain for Trump’s policies and behavior. Cher’s willingness to speak out, even at the risk of backlash, has made her a prominent figure in the resistance against Trumpism.

In her interview with The Guardian, Cher made it clear that she’s prepared to take drastic action if Trump is re-elected. While some may view her comments as extreme, Cher emphasized that her stance is rooted in a genuine fear for the safety and future of marginalized communities. “It’s not just about me,” she explained. “It’s about everyone who would be affected by his policies—LGBTQ people, people of color, immigrants, women. I don’t think we can afford another four years of that kind of leadership.”

Cher’s political statements come at a time when many other celebrities and public figures are also voicing their concerns over the state of U.S. politics, particularly regarding the rights and protections of minority groups. As the 2024 election approaches, more and more celebrities are using their platforms to mobilize and advocate for change, hoping to influence the outcome and prevent a repeat of what they see as a disastrous era for American politics.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Cher remains hopeful that activism and unity can make a difference. “I’ll fight as hard as I can for what’s right,” she declared. “I’ve been around long enough to know that change is possible when people come together. But if things go south again, I’ll have to think about where I can make the most impact. If that means leaving, then that’s what I’ll do.”

Her words have sparked a mixture of support and debate among her fans, with many applauding her courage to speak her truth, while others question whether leaving the country is the solution. Regardless, Cher’s message is clear: she’s willing to take a stand against policies she views as harmful, and she’s urging others to join her in fighting for a more inclusive and just society.

As the U.S. gears up for what promises to be a highly contentious election, Cher’s voice—familiar, strong, and unyielding—continues to resonate. Whether she stays in the country or chooses to leave, her commitment to advocacy and activism remains unwavering.
