On Sunday, Prince Harry turned 40 years old, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, along with King Charles, gave him a surprise personal message.
A post was made to Prince William and Princess Catherine’s Instagram Stories with the caption, “Wishing a Happy 40th Birthday to the Duke of Sussex.”
They included a happy photo of Harry grinning for the camera while wearing a dapper grey suit with their message. The picture was also included in a previous homage that King Charles posted. He wrote, “Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today!” with a cake emoji in a heartfelt statement.
Since wishing Harry a happy birthday in 2021, this is the first time the royal family has sent out a message for him in public.
Since his father resigned as a senior royal in 2020, Harry, along with his wife Meghan Markle and their two kids, have lived in California. Their relationship has been somewhat strained.
But Harry crossed the ocean to visit his father at Clarence House after learning of Charles’s cancer diagnosis earlier this year. Also, in May of last year, the two were reunited at the monarch’s coronation.
Many royal fans left their opinions in the comments section; one wrote, “A very happy birthday to Prince Harry!” A second person added, “What a fantastic picture, and that smile! A very happy 40th birthday to the Duke of Sussex!” and a third said, “Amazing picture! Harry, happy birthday!”
The Duke will celebrate his birthday on September 15th, 2015, in Montecito, California, at the house he shares with his wife Meghan and their kids. The plans were exclusively disclosed to HELLO! magazine.
Additionally, he will relish spending a weekend in the mountains with a few of his closest companions.
The father of two talked candidly about his role as a father and how it’s grown to be one of his “greatest joys” in life ahead of his milestone birthday.
“Having two incredibly kind and funny kids has sharpened my focus in all my work and given me a fresh perspective on life,” Harry said in a statement provided by his spokesperson to the BBC.
“Being a dad is one of life’s greatest joys and has only made me more driven and more committed to making this world a better place.”
Additionally, Harry told the BBC, “I was anxious about 30, I’m excited about 40.” Harry resigned as a senior royal in 2020.
“Whatever the age, my mission is to continue showing up and doing good in the world” .
