President Trump’s attorney and spokeswoman tore into Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s “hush money” case against her client, calling it “another disgrace” that further tarnishes the reputation of New York’s so-called justice system.
In an interview with Newsmax TV’s Rob Schmitt, Habba alleged that there is a “coordinated effort” between officials in the Democratic super-majority state and the Biden administration to legally hamstring the current president’s political rival.
In addition, Habba accused U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland of being the “puppeteer” of President Biden’s Justice Department, which she accused of engaging in a coordinated effort with Bragg’s office to dredge the case against Trump back up after the federal Southern District Of New York chose five years ago not to pursue any indictments.
“[Garland’s] the puppeteer, effectively, and so is the current president, or resident, as I call him, in the White House. Truly, there is obviously a coordinated effort. There’s no question about that,” Habba told Schmitt.
“Back in the day, this case was looked at, it was investigated, charges were not brought. Indictments were not made because they knew the case was not real,” Habba said. “Then [Trump] ran for office. They bring the charges. If you look at that timeline alone, I wanna know how they’re gonna wipe this story away because it speaks volumes. You didn’t bring the charges. You said there was no story.”
Trump was still president when the Southern District opted not to pursue charges.
“And then he runs for office, and they bring an indictment on this case,” Habba added. “And that case that’s going forward in April is another disgrace and shows the demise of the state of New York, which I used to love.”
Meanwhile, Democratic DA Bragg has appointed Matthew Colangelo, a former senior official in Biden’s Department of Justice, as an assistant district attorney.
“It’s disgusting. Just look at the White House log,” Habba said. “If anybody wants to tell me something’s not coordinated, explain to me why a state official, who is supposed to be elected by their state and work for their state constituents, is now working with the White House administration.
“It makes no sense,” she added.

Meanwhile, Bragg is developing a reputation for failing to crack down on violent criminals while focusing instead on political targets like Trump.
A judge in Arizona delivered a blow to George Soros-backed Bragg earlier this month after refusing to extradite a murder suspect to New York City.
During a hearing, Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell argued against sending murder suspect Raad Almansoori, 26, back to Bragg’s jurisdiction after the suspect was accused of beating a woman to death at a Manhattan hotel.
Mitchell argued that Bragg has a reputation for treating violent suspects too well. Court Commissioner Barbara Spencer ruled in favor of Mitchell, which dealt a huge blow to Bragg, the Washington Examiner reported.
“Nothing can happen on the fugitive case other than there could be what’s called a governor’s directive, which is the document that would hold you instead of the governor’s warrant, or you would choose to sign a waiver,” Spencer told Almansoori in court, KSAZ-TV reported.
Bragg immediately responded, claiming that his priority was the pursuit of justice. “Seeking justice for victims and survivors is our priority at the Manhattan D.A.’s Office,” said a spokesperson for the DA’s office, the New York Post reported.
“We do not stand on ceremony but prioritize the integrity of the process,” they continued. “We are proceeding as we do in every case involving an out-of-state arrest: following the facts and the law to ensure justice is served.”
Prosecutors in Manhattan can still petition Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) to override the judge’s ruling and agree to extradite Almansoori.
