Although we’re fast approaching the one-year anniversary of LEGO Fortnite, Epic Games’ free-to-play open world survival/building game that puts players in the plastic shoes of minifigure versions of their favourite Fortnite skins, it’s taken until now to get actual LEGO sets based on Fortnite itself.
With little time left before those very first LEGO Fortnite sets hit stores on 1 October 2024, I wanted to take a quick look at the nine brand-new minifigures that are being introduced. All belonging to what is undoubtedly going to be the most popular of these sets, the 77073 Battle Bus, these minifigs are simultaneously LEGO-fied versions of some iconic Fortnite skins and almost exact matches for their LEGO Fortnite counterparts.

BRITE BOMBER
Introduced in the second season of Fortnite Battle Royale, way back in 2017, Brite Bomber is a true Fortnite OG and remains one of the game’s most iconic and recognisable skins, featuring in trailers, images and merch since the very early days. It’s also widely believed that Brite Bomber is very close with one of the other characters in this list, Drift.
The LEGO Fortnite version of Brite Bomber rocks a very LEGO-esque take on the outfit with lots of great details including the battle-worn unicorn t-shirt and big, chunky shades. The physical minifigure that comes in the 77073 Battle Bus set is nearly like-for-like, only missing the moulded sunglasses which are instead being worn as part of the head print (though you can also rotate her head for a glasses-free look). Like many others in this set, the Brite Bomber minifigure also comes with a LEGO pickaxe item.
CUBE ASSASSIN
Introduced in Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 8 in December 2021, Cube Assassin is a member of the Cube Legion – an interdimensional threat that invaded the island in a live event which saw players dealing with giant cubes and anomalies across the map. As a boss character during these events, Cube Assassin remains a memorable character and a popular skin.
The LEGO Fortnite version of Cube Assassin has a cool, geometric head design and plenty of great outfit details. The head on the physical minifigure that comes in the Battle Bus 77073 set is equally cool with the crystal-like details printed on a translucent piece. Cube Assassin has a Shield Potion as their included item.
ADVENTURE PEELY
Debuting in Chapter 5: Season 1 in 2023, Adventure Peely took the ever-popular banana boy, Peely, and gives him a bit of a “rugged matinee hero” look that’s very (I’m going to say it) a-peel-ing. The reason we’re getting this particular version of Peely as part of the set is presumably because Adventure Peely is one of the skins that launched alongside LEGO Fortnite’s release last year.
The LEGO Fortnite version of Adventure Peely, then, is a very solid match for the regular skin right down to the incredible “NANA” emblazoned across the back of his denim jacket. The physical minifigure that comes in the Battle Bus 77073 set is also great, with the same custom head/body piece slotted over a regular minifig torso to give Peely his iconic banana bod. In keeping with the “Adventure” vibe, Peely is also holding the Fortnite Grappler.
CUDDLE TEAM LEADER
Cuddle Team Leader is another incredibly-recognisable Fortnite skin that even casual observers will know from all manner of promotional material and merch, as one of the game’s earlier characters introduced in Season 2 in 2018. Cuddle Team Leader’s real identity is a woman named “Syd,” and her conflict resolution style is to hug first, shoot later.
The LEGO Fortnite version of Cuddle Team Leader does a great job of capturing the wide-eyed stare of the oversized mascot head and makes it look convincingly like there’s a regular LEGO person under it all. The bear mask on the real-world version of the Battle Bus 77073 Cuddle Team Leader minifigure is missing a bit of printed detail for the buttons on the back, but it’s moulded nicely and is removable. Underneath you’ll see what looks like Ramirez’ head underneath, not Syd, which is a cute nod to the origins of the skin which had a completely different default character under the mask.
Like Cube Assassin, Cuddle Team Leader also gets a Shield Potion as her item.
RAVEN
Yet another very old-school Fortnite character that longtime players will recognise instantly, Raven’s first appearance in the game was as part of the Nevermore Set in 2018’s Season 3 update, and he continues to pop up as a purchasable skin quite often – as recently as March this year.
I really love how fabulous the collar is on the LEGO Fortnite version of Raven, turning what I’m sure was meant to be brooding and edgy into a bit of a gala vibe. The physical minifigure that comes in the Battle Bus 77073 set looks superb and has its own great moulded collar to match the in-game version. Raven’s one of the four characters in this set to wield a classic LEGO pickaxe as their item.
BATTALION BRAWLER
Yes, he may be called “Battalion Brawler” here, but anyone who’s been around Fortnite long enough will absolutely be calling him Jonesy. This is about as default as you could get in Fortnite as one of the Season 3 Recruits, and equally iconic, so it definitely deserves a seat on the LEGO Battle Bus 77073.
The LEGO Fortnite version of Battalion Brawler/Jonesy is pretty cut-and-dry, with the same, swooping blonde hair and well-groomed eyebrows. The physical minifigure that comes in the Battle Bus 77073 can rock the classic smirk or alternatively a more placid smile on the reverse side of the printed head. The generic vibes continue with BB/Jonesy’s included item, another LEGO pickaxe.
MEOWSCLES
Meowscles is a personal favourite Fortnite skin of mine, and many others, for good reason – how could you not love a totally ripped, anthropomorphic cat named Meowscles?? As part of the Chapter 2: Season 2 Battle Pass as well as the appropriately-named “Swole Cat Set,” Meowscles has made many a comeback in some other neat variants in later seasons.
The Meowscles minifigure that comes in the Battle Bus 77073 set isn’t an exact match for the in-game LEGO Fortnite version – it’s missing printing on the left arm and the face expression is slightly different – but it still looks great especially with the exclusive head mould and tail. LEGO Meowscles gets the Slap Juice as his item.
TRESPASSER ELITE
Introduced in Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 7 in 2021, Trespasser Elite is part of a group of invaders known as the (you guessed it) Trespassers. The Elites are souped-up Trespasser variants that are powered by the same Cubes that we mentioned earlier with Cube Assassin, making them much more formidable foes.
The LEGO Fortnite version of the Trespasser Elite skin is a bit of a weird one. With the exception of the helmet and collar piece the details are mostly printed, which makes it look quite different from the complex standard Fortnite character model. The physical minifigure that comes in the Battle Bus 77073 set is much the same, though the exclusive head underneath the helmet is quite neat, using the same pink translucent plastic as Cube Assassin’s and with printed Cube details.
The Trespasser Elite gets (you guessed it) a LEGO Pickaxe as its item.
DRIFT
Last but certainly not least, we have Drift, who joined Fortnite standard in 2018 as part of the Season 5 Battle Pass and Drift Set. This is another staple Fortnite character that you’ll see just about everywhere, and absolutely deserves a place among this first wave of LEGO Fortnite minifigures. Drift takes inspiration from the fox-like “kitsune” of Japanese myth and his outfit has many different stages that progressed as players would complete challenges in the game.
The LEGO Fortnite version of Drift is loosely based on the fourth stage of his outfit, having him done the kitsune mask and rocking a pink hoodie. The physical Drift minifigure that comes in the Battle Bus 77073 set is extra special as it comes with the exclusive printed face with mask and a hair piece to match the base Drift style, as well as the kitsune mask with pink hood if you’d prefer to display it that way. Like Peely, Drift is equipped with the Grappler.
So there you have it! The 77073 Battle Bus is no doubt going to be an exciting set for Fortnite fans, if not for the great-looking bus itself then certainly these iconic characters in their LEGO Fortnite minifigure forms finally being made a reality.
77073 Battle Bus and the other LEGO Fortnite sets launch on October 1st and are available to pre-order from LEGO.com or your local LEGO Store.
