In case you missed it, LEGO and F1 are going to collaborating in a big way in 2025. but we’re already starting to see some of that in the 2024 F1 race season.
The Austin Grand Prix has just concluded (congrats, Ferrari!) and LEGO had a pretty big presence at the event. A huge booth featuring the 174,783-piece model of the McLaren F1 race car model allowed visitors to get up and close with a super-sized model of 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car.
Visitors to the LEGO F1 booth at the Austin GP also had the opportunity to participate in a Make and Take, with an exclusive F1 McLaren build as a fun souvenir. Thanks to JeansVersion who attended the event, I’ve got some photos and instructions of the model to share!
The most interesting element is the printed LEGO McLaren plaque, which also has the race’s country and year.
There are 4 unique tiles for the Canadian GP, British GP, US GPs and Mexico GP. The Mexican GP is next weekend, so there’ll be a new tile for that, and it’s likely that there’ll be a big showcase in the Las Vegas GP on 21-23 November as well. We’re likely to get our very first look at the first 2025 Formula 1 sets at Vegas, as that coincides nicely with the countdown that’s currently running on LEGO’s Formula 1 page.
If you’re not picky about the exclusive tile, here are the instructions for the mini LEGO McLaren F1 car model!
If you’re lucky enough to be attending the Mexico or Las Vegas GP, be sure to keep an eye out for the F1 LEGO experience for these Make and Takes, and possibly more!
