Prince Harry ‘wants peace’ with the Royal Family for the sake of Princess Diana
Prince Harry is said to be hopeful for having a peaceful relationship with his older brother Prince William and father King Charles at some point in the near future
Prince Harry is keen to resolve his relationship with the Royal Family, and wants to do it for his late mother Princess Diana.
The Duke of Sussex’s relationship with the Royal Family has been estranged ever since he and wife Meghan Markle stepped down in 2020.
After they stepped back and moved to Montecito, California, the couple have spoken out about their experience in The Firm. They’ve made controversial comments in their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey and the couple’s 2022 Netflix docuseries, with them seemingly deepening the ongoing royal rift.
Harry’s memoir, released last year, is said to have also caused a stir in the Royal Family as he detailed arguments with his brother Prince William and his father King Charles. Yet he also reveals in the book that he would like to have peace with his brother and father, and to resolve their relationship.

Prince Harry is said to be keen to have peace with his brother and father, which is what his mother Diana would have wanted
In his book Spare, Harry wrote: “I’d come to those gardens because I wanted peace. I wanted it more than anything. I wanted it for my family’s sake, and for my own—but also for hers.”
He added that Diana “strove for peace”, and that she was “always working to bring peace to someone somewhere”. He reflects on Diana as he adds: “I knew how desperately she would want—no, did want— peace between her boys, and between us two and Pa.”
It’s thought that Prince Harry declined to attend his friend Hugh Grosvenor’s wedding today, due to his older brother Prince William being in attendance. Hugh Grosvenor has been a close pal with Harry for many years and he attended his raucous 21st birthday party back in 2012. Their friendship runs so deep that when Harry’s son Prince Archie was born in 2019, Hugh was given a prestigious role as godfather. However, Hugh is also said to be very close with Prince William.
According to The Times, Harry was invited to Hugh’s wedding, but then over a phone call with the groom agreed to stay away in what is described as a “civilised understanding”. This move in turn cleared the way for William to perform his job as usher at the ceremony.
Last month, the Sunday Times also reported that Hugh wanted both princes at the wedding but came to an agreement with Harry. A source told the publication: “Hugh is one of the very few close friends of William and Harry’s who has maintained strong bonds and a line of communication with both. He wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up, but realises it’s unlikely to happen before the wedding. He wanted to avoid anything overshadowing the day, especially for Olivia, and doesn’t want any awkwardness.”
