The Prince and Princess of Wales have publicly wished King Charles a happy 76th birthday.
Prince William and Princess Kate have publicly wished King Charles a happy 76th birthday by sharing a message on their social media channels.
They wrote: “Wishing a very Happy Birthday to His Majesty The King!”
A hilarious picture of the King, wearing his cool sunglasses and a colourful garland on his recent trip to Samoa, accompanied the message.
The couple have grown increasingly close to Prince William’s dad this year after his cancer diagnosis, which came just before Princess Kate was also diagnosed with the disease.
Both the King and Princess of Wales were in The London Clinic for operations at the same time in January, before their cancer diagnoses, which is also said to have strengthened their bond.
A source told The Times: “The King has always had a close, warm and unique relationship with the princess. She has a great love and respect for him and his position.
“When they were in hospital together there was a lot of toddling down the corridor to spend time with her.
“He has been encouraging and supporting her throughout.”
Prince William has also stepped up for his father this year during certain royal engagements, with Queen Camilla also increasing her workload while her husband took a step back from public duties.
Prince Harry is yet to wish his father the King a happy birthday publicly.
The duke, 40, is likely to call his father today with his children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
