Despite previously backing Meghan Markle, one columnist has now said they “can no longer support her”.

Meghan Markle has plummeted “from Duchess to D-list’” after making an “unforgiveable” fashion faux paus at a recent event, it has been claimed.
After claiming she has overlooked “countless red flags”, columnist Liz Jones wrote in her latest Daily Mail column that she can’t “overlook that red dress”.
Meghan attended the LA Children’s Hospital Gala on Saturday night, opting for a recycled £4,595 ($5,990) red Carolina Herrera dress for the event in Los Angeles.
The dress, which Meghan previously wore to an event in 2021, has caused a stir amongst royal fans and readers online – with Ms Jones now weighing in on Meghan’s latest look.
She wrote: “Yes, I suddenly found myself cringing with second-hand embarrassment when I saw those pictures. And once you have that feeling, you can’t go back.”
She continued: “I’m sorry to say, in that ill-fitting dress you didn’t look like a regal royal – you looked diminished.
“That’s when I realised that what you now represent is so small as well: Meghan has gone from Duchess to D-list.”
Speaking on Meghan’s decision to wear the dress to an event such as this, she added: “And yes I did think, hmmmm, Catherine would have been covered up, in something lovely, loose and floaty.
“To be so exposed is unforgivable. It wasn’t the time or the place for flesh.”

The columnist, who has claimed she would ‘block” Meghan if she were able to, described the dress as “a bit tacky”.
The Duchess attended the event alone on Saturday, with her husband Prince Harry embarking on various solo overseas over the past few weeks.
The Duke of Sussex travelled to London last week for the WellChild Awards following a short stay in New York City last month.
He then travelled to where he has been promoting his charity Sentable. Meghan is said to have stayed in California with their children, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3.
Meghan Markle has faced renewed criticism following her appearance at the LA Children’s Hospital Gala, where she wore a red Carolina Herrera dress that she had previously donned in 2021. This decision has sparked reactions from royal commentators and fans alike, with one columnist, Liz Jones, stating she can no longer support the Duchess of Sussex due to what she deems an “unforgivable” fashion choice.
In her latest Daily Mail column, Jones expressed disappointment in Meghan’s sartorial decision, claiming it marked a significant fall from grace. “Meghan has gone from Duchess to D-list,” Jones wrote, highlighting how the ill-fitting dress did not uphold the regal standard expected of someone with royal ties. She added that seeing Meghan in the recycled gown left her with “second-hand embarrassment” and was a tipping point in her view of the former Duchess.
Jones compared Meghan’s fashion choices to those of Catherine, Princess of Wales, implying that Catherine would have opted for something “lovely, loose, and floaty” for such an event. She called the dress “a bit tacky” and suggested that Meghan’s exposure at the gala was inappropriate for the occasion, describing it as a misstep in both style and judgment.
Adding to the speculation was Meghan’s solo appearance at the gala, as Prince Harry was notably absent, having been on a solo trip to Africa for his charity work with Sentebale. In recent weeks, the couple has spent time apart due to separate engagements, with Harry having traveled to London for the WellChild Awards and to New York for other commitments.
Despite her charity work and public appearances, Meghan continues to be a focal point of intense public scrutiny, with her every move—whether fashion or otherwise—being dissected by critics and supporters alike. Whether this latest critique marks a shift in her public image remains to be seen, but it has undoubtedly fueled ongoing conversations about her role post-royal life.
