LEGO Star Wars could be bringing back a dormant collection from its hiatus but not in a way that some fans might have hoped for.
The LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection has seen some unique and creatively designed helmets over the years, not least thanks to the fact that Star Wars as a franchise has no shortage of cool helmets. While no new brick-built helmets have joined the collection in 2024 – the last releases being 2023’s 75349 Captain Rex Helmet, 75350 Clone Commander Cody Helmet, and 75351 Princess Leia (Boushh) Helmet – it’s rumoured that another could be coming in 2025.
According to Instagram users childish_landino_chronicles and exabrickslegogo_, the latest LEGO Star Wars rumours suggest that a Jango Fett helmet model will join the sub-theme. That will make it the third Mandalorian-themed helmet, joining 75328 The Mandalorian Helmet and 75277 Boba Fett Helmet. It would be a pretty easy set to release, needing just a few design tweaks and, of course, a colour revamp to suit Jango Fett’s blue colour scheme for his armour.
While 75328 The Mandalorian Helmet and 75277 Boba Fett Helmet are both distinct enough to keep it interesting, the return of the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection only to introduce a recoloured Mandalorian helmet seems like a tame and dare we say lame choice. It’s especially frustrating seeing as there are so many cool helmets that have not yet had their own LEGO Star Wars set.
2024 has seen the controversial release of The Acolyte but, no matter what you think of the show, it’s hard to ignore that the Stranger’s metallic helmet would make for a cool set. We’ve also never had Captain Phasma’s unique chrome helmet, which wouldn’t require too much retooling from the existing design for 75276 Stormtrooper Helmet.
Indeed, there are plenty more Star Wars helmets that could make for some more exciting additions to the collection. Back in 2021, we brought together this list of helmets we still need and four out of the seven are still missing: Kylo Ren, Bo-Katan Kryze, Captain Phasma, and General Grievous. With more Star Wars TV shows and movies coming out all the time, the list of potential sets will only keep growing.
Here’s hoping that the release of a Jango Fett helmet, if it is indeed on its way, will mark a renewed era for the Helmet Collection where we can finally see some of the deeper cuts and more unique helmets to the LEGO Star Wars theme.
