Captain Ian Farquhar, a dear friend of the King, has sadly passed away at the age of 78.
Ian had long been a close friend of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
He had also distinguished himself by serving as an escort to the Queen Mother.
Known as a skilled hunter and horseman, Ian proudly served in the Queen’s Hussars.
The King, already dealing with his own cancer diagnosis, is deeply saddened by this loss. The loss comes shortly after the passing of Lord Jacob Rothschild, who was 87.
In 2000, while on leave, Prince William dated Ian’s daughter Rose Farquhar. The young couple enjoyed romantic picnics in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside.
Ian Farquhar spent many years renting a farm on the King’s Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire.
Andy spoke warmly of Ian, recalling that he was “always great fun, but as wild as a hawk when he was young.”
He also mentioned that Ian would go down in history as “one of the great hound masters”.
Ian was Beaufort’s revered hunt master for 34 years.
