SP. “Yes, I think it’s viable” – Journalist claims Manchester City superstar could move to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami in 2025

Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne has been linked to a move to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami. His contract with the Premier League champions is set to expire in the summer.

The Belgian midfielder joined the Premier League giants from VfL Wolfsburg in 2015 for a reported fee of €76 million (as per Transfermarkt). De Bruyne has been exemplary for Manchester City over the years, registering 104 goals and 171 assists in 397 games across competitions. He is just two assists away from becoming the second-highest assist provider in the history of the Premier League.

However, the Belgian superstar’s current contract with Manchester City expires next summer. Journalist Barak Fever has hinted at his joining Lionel Messi at Inter Miami. Fever was asked on ESPN Deportes (via Inter Miami News) about the chances of De Bruyne moving to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami next season.

“Yes, I think it is viable,” he said.

“The last big signings in MLS before Messi joined were big-name players from the Premier League, like Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, but they came two or three years too late. In De Bruyne’s case, granted he’s been injured in the last year, he still has the quality to be a wonderful player in MLS. If Miami want to sign him, they have to sign him now,” he added.

Inter Miami already boast a stacked midfield comprising Sergio Busquets, Diego Gomez, Benja Cremaschi, Julian Gressel, Matias Rojas, Facundo Farias, and others. Kevin De Bruyne will add even more depth, helping frontmen like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to get more support in the attack.

The Messi vs. Ronaldo debate has been dominating football discourses for over two decades. The two are widely considered the greatest players to have ever played the game and had maintained an unparalleled duopoly over world football during their primes. They have racked up a total of 13 Ballons d’Or between them, with Lionel Messi winning eight.

However, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne reckoned that Ronaldo would be a better teammate for him than Messi. The Belgian said that both he and Messi played in similar positions and Ronaldo would better suit his playstyle. He said (via SPORTbible):

“I would probably say Ronaldo because he’s more of a typical striker. Messi is still more of a playmaker. I am a playmaker, you can give me a striker.”

Messi and Ronaldo are in the twilight of their careers and are playing football at Inter Miami and Al-Nassr, respectively.
